GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER

  • 30g halloumi

  • 2 Tesco bao buns (in fridge section)

  • 2 in cucumber

  • 3 spring onions

  • 1 tbsp chilli mayonnaise

  • 1/2 tsp poppy seed

  • 1 serving olive oil spray

RIGhT, CHEF. YOU’RE UP.

  1. Slice the halloumi. Heat a non-stick frying pan with a few sprays of olive oil spray, then cook the halloumi for 1-2 minutes on each side until beautifully golden.

  2. While the halloumi is doing its thing, slice the cucumber + spring onions and get your bao buns ready.

  3. When the halloumi is nearly done, warm the bao buns according to the packet instructions so everything is ready at the same time.

  4. Load them up with the golden halloumi, cucumber + spring onions.

  5. Squirt the chilli mayo on top of each bao.

  6. Finish with a sprinkle of poppy seeds.

  7. Get stuck in while the bao are warm, soft + the halloumi is still golden.

THE NUTRITIONIST BIT

The science behind your plate, minus the science lesson.

The halloumi provides protein and calcium, while the bao buns provide carbohydrates for energy. Adding cucumber + spring onions brings some fibre, vitamins and minerals, as well as a bit of freshness and crunch.

Together, you’ve got a satisfying mix of protein, carbs and fat that can absolutely fit into a balanced, calorie-controlled diet.
